China in 2026: importing safely from a market that changed
Chinese industrial overcapacity, aggressive pricing and new suppliers every week. How to qualify partners, negotiate and protect the operation from the first order.

China remains Brazil's largest trading partner, but the game has changed. Chinese industrial overcapacity, combined with barriers in the US and Europe, is steering an enormous volume of goods towards markets like Brazil, with aggressive prices and a growing number of unknown suppliers. Opportunity and risk in equal measure.
Qualify before you negotiate
A good price from an unverified supplier is the start of many problems. Our minimum process includes checking the business licence, the export record, a factory visit (our own or through a local partner) and an approved sample with a test report. Only then do price and lead time come into play.
Contract and payment
- A bilingual contract with the technical specification attached, tolerances and acceptance criteria.
- Staged payment: deposit, balance against an approved pre-shipment inspection, never 100% in advance.
- Third-party inspection at loading, with photos, measurements and a functional test.
Asia-Brazil logistics
Ocean transit of 35 to 45 days, with calls that vary according to the carrier's alliance. LCL consolidation for small lots, FCL for volume. For electronics and high-value parts, air freight via Guangzhou, Shanghai or Hong Kong solves it in a week door to door.
Beware the supplier's "all-in CIF price". It often hides poor-quality freight, insufficient insurance and destination charges that appear later. Compare the total landed cost, not the invoice price.
Tariff classification and approvals
Electronics, toys, electrical equipment and products in contact with food face requirements from the Brazilian standards, telecom and health authorities. Check before buying: an uncertified product will not be released, and re-exporting is expensive.
TMLOG Global Trade keeps sourcing and inspection partners in China and runs the whole operation, from the supplier to the client's warehouse in Brazil.
